She taught the hearing impaired in Bloomfield Hills MI; reading in Allegan County Intermediate School District and Racine, WI; and worked for the Literacy Council in Racine, WI. She loved her family, and was proud all her children earned college degrees. She enjoyed gardening, book clubs and family genealogy. Susan is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gerald Flessland of Holland, her 5 children: Karen (Bill Avalone) Flessland of Tucson, AZ: Eric (Stephanie) Flessland of Grosse Ile, MI; Kristine (Mark) Ohlhaver of Fountain Hills, AZ; Mark (Jodie) Flessland of Holland, MI; and Kathryn (Manning) Lopez of Oakland, CA; her grandchildren, Olivia, Gabriel, and Ellise Flessland; Diana and Jason Ohlhaver; Elizabeth (Scott) Martin and Christine (Daniel) Boehm; and her great grandchildren: Macklin and Tucker Boehm; Eliza Martin and Presley Lopez. Her grandson, David Lopez, preceded her in death.
