Sidney Jay Vande Vusse, 79 years old and longtime resident of Holland, Michigan passed away on June 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Marquette hospital. Sid grew up in a large family, which he remained close to all his life. His brother Gary Vande Vusse preceded him in death as well as his twin sister, Sherry Veldhuis. Sid has 3 surviving brothers, Howard (Gale) Vande Vusse, Jack Vande Vusse, and Glen (Rosemary) Vande Vusse. He served proudly in the Army during the Korean War and was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division. He was a rifleman in Company G of the division’s 19th regiment. He worked at Jacobusses Refuse/ Waste Management in Holland until he retired to Hesperia Michigan with the long-time love of his life and wife Carol (Mulder) Vande Vusse where they lived many years. After retirement, Sid continued to work driving school bus in Holland and Hesperia as his love of children was with him always. His beloved Carol preceded him in death on January 1st 2017. Sid had 6 children all whom survived him. Sidney (Donna)Vande Vusse, Michelle (Art) Armfield, Todd Vande Vusse, Kevin Vande Vusse, Shannon Vande Vusse, and Kirt Vande Vusse, two stepchildren, Mark Mulder and Kristi (Tom) Nessner whom he loved and treated as his own. Sid was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with his family and friends hunting and fishing, of which all have wonderful memories and stories to tell. He will be missed greatly. He is survived by 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. A memorial celebration of life visitation will be 1-3 pm Saturday (June 24) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue. Memorial contributions may be made to one’s choice.
