Life Story / Obituary
Ronald T. Robbins, age 68, of Douglas, passed away, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his home.
Ron was born in Detroit, MI on August 26, 1945, where he lived until 1999, when he and his wife, Helen, moved to Douglas, MI. Ron graduated with a degree in fine arts from the Center of Creative Studies, where he excelled in silver molding. He also enjoyed painting and sculpting. For years, Ron, participated and enjoyed racing his Crescent Sailboat on Lake St. Clair. In 2003, Ron, helped form and was the Vice President of the Douglas Dutchers Base Ball Club. Ron entered a "Blue Star" in Art Prize in Grand Rapids, MI. It remains at M & M Ice Cream Treats in Douglas, MI.
Ron was a caring man, who took care of his mother and his handicapped step-son, Brett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Robbins, a sister, and a step-son, Brett Freed.
Surviving is his wife Helen of 14 years and a son, Christopher Robbins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 252 Grand Street, with the Rev. Corwin Stoppel officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck.
Visitation will be 6-9 pm Friday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Saugatuck Chapel, 520 Lake Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas Dutchers Base Ball Club.
