Ronald Gene Eding of Hamilton, Michigan, died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He is no longer struggling with his health and he is with Jesus.

Ron was born on July 11, 1944 and he is the son of Alvin and Goldie (Krause) Eding. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dale Eding, his sisters, Dawn Gebben and Lori McDowell, and sister-in-law Gert (Staal) Eding.

Ron was very connected to both farming and education and was known for his wisdom, patience, and kindness. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s degree in Horticulture. He taught chemistry and physics at Hamilton High School for 15 years. He and his brother Dale started Eding Brother’s Celery Farm in Hamilton. Ron served on the Hamilton Community School’s Board of Education for 31 years and the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District Board for 21 years.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking family vacations with the grandkids, working on the farm, and serving on educational boards.

Ron is survived by his wife Grace (Langemaat) of 51 years; son Gregory Eding and his wife Erica; daughter Susan Nykamp and her husband BJ. Grandchildren Gerrit Eding, Rileigh Eding, Evan Eding, Audra Eding, Ben Nykamp, Reece Nykamp, and Katelynn Nykamp; sister, Lynn Bosch and her husband Paul; sister-in-law Carol (DeKorte) Eding, brother-in-laws Hans Gebben and Chris McDowell, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 1 from 5-7pm at Hamilton Reformed Church, 3554 Lincoln Rd, Hamilton. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 2nd at 1:00pm also at Hamilton Reformed Church. The service can be viewed on the projector in the Fellowship Hall and will be made available via livestream through the church’s FaceBook page and website https://www.hamiltonreformedchurch.org/. A private graveside service will take place following the service at Hamilton Riverside Cemetery.
