Robert DeLaLuz, March 5, 1945 – June 26, 2022. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was committed to supporting his family in their interests and pursuits.

Robert (Bob) was an Air Force Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. He proudly worked 29 years at the Holland Police Department, being the first Hispanic sergeant in the department’s history. Bob was a tough man with a tender heart. He taught and trained many young officers and often made a point in helping kids who were wayward in their journey during his time as an officer.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and two sisters.

Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years Yrene, his children, Stephanie (Christopher) Tepper, Ronnie (Brian) Banks, Jeannie (Aaron) Pinkus; grandchildren Amber (Lance) Jongekrijg, Dillon, Paige (Andrew) Jager, Hannah, Kailey, Abigail, Catherine, Christopher and great-grandchildren Urijah and Liana; brothers and sisters, Noel (Terese) DeLaLuz, Rick DeLaLuz and Elizabeth DeLaLuz. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.

A private graveside service with military honors will be planned for a later date. Robert’s children invite you to join them for a celebration of life open house on Sunday, July 24, 2022 between 1 pm and 4 pm at 1258 Heather Court, Holland. If Robert has blessed your life, his family welcomes you to come and honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association or the Holland Police Department.

Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel.
