Richard D. “Rick” Lord, 58

Rick Lord, 58 years old, of Saugatuck, Michigan and Palm Springs, California died on Monday, October 2nd.

Rick was born in Buffalo, New York and was raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Rick worked in a steel mill in Hamilton, then as a front-line supervisor for security companies in Canada and the US until he retired in 2006. Rick spent the last few years concentrating on his art and photography.

Rick was involved with and supported the Saugatuck Center for the Arts and the Architecture & Design Council of the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Rick is survived by his partner of fifteen years (husband for nine years), Brian “Skip” Schipper of Saugatuck and Palm Springs. Rick is also survived by his daughter Erin and her husband Adam and their daughter Sophia of Victoria, British Columbia. Rick was close to his brother Les and his sister Cindy and her wife Wendy.

Rick was loved by many close friends in both Michigan and Palm Springs. He enjoyed cooking for others and entertained guests often. Rick left a legacy of beauty in the gardens he created in Saugatuck and Palm Springs. He loved flowers, especially giving his arrangements to friends. His smile and infectious laughter will be missed by all.
