Richard Van Dyke Jr.

Richard Van Dyke Jr., 92, passed away on Sunday, January 9 with his family at his side.

Richard enjoyed his trips to Florida and Shipshewana as well as his weekly happy hours. He cheered for the Lions and watched them win on Sunday. Richard drove to buy his lottery tickets up until a week before his death. He was a great father.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alicia Van Dyke, parents Richard and Grace Van Dyke, his siblings Gerald Van Dyke and Helen Wagner. Also his son Paul Van Dyke and his long-time companion Helene Nieboer.

Richard is survived by his children: Margaret and Bob Parshall, Richard and Kathleen Van Dyke, Patti Wolters, Penny Van Dyke and Jay Jacobusse, and David and Karen Van Dyke, as well as sisters Joan Meeuwsen and Ruth and Jim Becksvoort.

Richard's beloved grandchildren are Tarah Van Sant, Alicia and Roger Benavides, Katharine and Ross DeHaan, Haley Wolters, Erin Wolters, Angela and Adrienne Jacobusse, Alex Ash, Anthony Ash and Maddy Burns.

He is also survived by Helene's children: Terry and Marjorie Nieboer, David and Ruth Nieboer, Mary Lynn and Skip Bowen, Pat Mulder, and Bob and Linda NIeboer.

Private graveside services were held at Lakewood Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
