Richard Allen Hayes, age 73, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024.
Richard was born on November 18, 1950, in Clio, MI, to Archibald and Marjory (Preston) Hayes. He graduated from Sturgis High School on June 8, 1972.
Richard was very involved with Hope College Women’s Basketball and Hope College Men’s Baseball teams. For the last 25 years, he was at every practice and game. He was the ultimate servant leader and no one has been to more games or practices than Coach Hayes, whom the players held in high regard.
He was a member of Maranatha Christian Reformed Church.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Betty Dolly.
Surviving are his siblings, Archie Hayes, Marlene Mosher, and Karla Knoll; stepchildren, Henry, Luke, and Noah Dolly.
Funeral services will be 1 pm, Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 918 Central Avenue. Livestream - https://www.youtube.com/live/VPizEEpacXk Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 11-12:45 prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
