Richard F. “Mello” Duffy, 62 of Chicago, IL passed away on February 20th, 2022 in Saugatuck, MI.

Richard was born in Chicago, IL to John Richard and Florence (Patrice “Tiny”) Duffy on July 22nd, 1959. He went on to earn a bachelors degree in Business and Finance from Illinois State University. He worked as a trader in financial futures for DKB and The Chicago Mercantile Exchange for a number of years before choosing his next venture to reside in Saugatuck, MI. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and had a very fond love for the game of golf. Nothing made him happier than being with his three daughters. He referred to them as his “Three C’s.”

Richard is survived by his daughters, Collette Duffy of Chicago, IL, Colleen (Drake Orser) Duffy of Chicago, IL, Caroline (Trevor) Gentry of Saugatuck, MI; brother, Kevin Duffy of Hinsdale, IL; sister, Patty Bryja of Johnson City, TN; grand dogs, Doss & George; nieces and nephews, Christie Duffy, Michael Bryja, Joseph Bryja, John Duffy, Robert “Bobby” Bryja, along with the entire Cronin family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Patti” Duffy; parents, John and Florence Duffy; and his special dog son, Rocco.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4 from 9:00am to 11:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church (4801 Main St. Downers Grove, IL). A funeral mass will take place following at 11:00am.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, & Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all family and close friends during this difficult time.
