Richard Daniel Baker, age 71 of Holland, passed away Monday August 13, 2018 at Spectrum Hospital after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Hazard County Kentucky on September 20th 1946, he grew up in New York and attended William Floyd High School. After school, Richard enlisted in the Marines to serve with “the best”, serving 2 years with one tour in Vietnam. After the war, he became a jack of all trades and worked in various industries until he finally settled as a general excavator. He met his loving wife Beth in 1976 and they moved to Michigan and married in 1978.
Richard is survived by his wife Beth; two sons, Matthew (Jennifer) of Chelsea MI, and William (Nicole) of Holland; along with four grandsons, Miles (5), Elliot (4), Ethan (3) and Warren (3).
Visitation for Richard will be on Wednesday, August 15 from 12-2pm and 4-6pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Ave, Holland. A private family burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harbor Humane Society, or the American Cancer Society.
