Phyllis Joy Dykstra-Witteveen, age 77, of Zeeland, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015.

She was born in Grand Rapids in 1938, the daughter of Reverend Donald and Sylvia Houseman.

Phyllis was widowed three times, being preceded in death by Albert C. Dykstra in 1987, Anton Asschert in 1995, and John H. Witteveen in 2009.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David (Karyn) Dykstra of McLeansboro, IL; Kristin (George) Klisurich Jr. of Schererville, IN; Michael (Mary) Dykstra of Zeeland, MI; Deanne Laxton of Plainfield, IL; and her six grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Gwendolyn (Gerald) Ellens, and her brother, Donald (Carol) Houseman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was a schoolteacher and a certified nursing assistant. She loved music and was a pianist and organist for over sixty years. She enjoyed sharing her time and talents with others, including Crossroads Ministry.

Visitations will take place Wednesday, October 7 at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel; 188 West 32nd Street from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place Thursday, October 8 at Hanley Christian Reformed Church; 372 Jackson Street SW, Grandville at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Crossroad Ministry or Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
