Michael J. Gonzales

Michael Joseph Gonzales, age 43, of Holland, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2024.

Michael was born on January 19, 1981 in Holland, MI to Gerardo and Ricarda Gonzales. He was the youngest of five children in his family. There was a big age gap between Michael and his older brothers and sisters so he was everyone’s “baby”.

In 1993, he attended Holland Middle School where he would meet the love of his life, Stephanie Sallis. The middle school sweethearts later wed in 2001. Mike and Stephanie went on to have 3 children, Marcus, Kalib and Olivia.

Throughout Michael’s life, he had a true passion for cooking. It’s what he did to provide for his family but also what he loved to do at home. It was so normal to see him over a grill, hosting his family and friends, spoiling everyone with his talent.

Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was the life of every party with his big smile, infectious laugh and all his jokes. He truly had a heart of gold.

Michael is survived by his wife, Stephanie; children, Marcus [Irma] Gonzales, Kalib [Shelby] Gonzales, Olivia [William] Gonzales; seven grandchildren; brother, Gerardo Gonzales; sisters, Sylvia [Filiberto] Serrano, Sandra Donaldson; mother in-law, Sharon Sallis; sister in-law, Katie Sallis; brother in-law, Timothy [Jessica] Sallis; many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Gerardo; mother, Ricarda; brother, Daniel; sister, Patsy and father in-law, Timothy Sallis.

A visitation will be held at Cornerstone Tabernacle, 781 Lincoln Avenue, Holland, on Thursday, March 28, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Mulder Chapel.
