Mary L Kooyers, age 96 of Holland, peacefully passed away April 27, 2022 in Zeeland.

Mary was born to George and Angie Glupker in 1926. She graduated from Holland High in 1944 and then furthered her education by getting her nursing degree at Mercy Central School of Nursing to become an Army nurse for WWII. She applied her education by working at both St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, and Holland City Hospital. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Foster Kooyers and the two had three children, Ann, John, and Chris. She spent many years working on the family farm, loved spending time at the lake and traveling the world. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and most recently Overisel Reformed Church. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, gardening, and making dolls, but most importantly enjoyed spending time with her family during the holidays. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Foster Kooyers in 2011.

She is survived by her children, Ann (Michael) Peklar of Florida, John (Tammy) Kooyers of Holland, Chris (Cindi) Kooyers of Overisel; grandchildren, Aimee (Jim) Dekker, Mandi (Khone) Sengmany, Nic (Loren) Kooyers, Steven (Katie) Kooyers, Ashley (Nick) Mueller, Foster (Maryn) Kooyers; many great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

The family wanted to give a special thank you to the staff at Hospice of Holland and Comfort Keepers for their loving care.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, April 30 from 3-5pm at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 W 32nd Street, Holland. A private family service will take place at a later date. Burial will be at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice of Holland.
