Mary Elizabeth (Voskuil) Haveman, age 96, of Holland died Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Resthaven – Jacob’s House.

For the first 9 years of her life Mary lived in China where her heart for serving others blossomed. Her parents were devoted missionaries with the Amoy China Mission of the Reformed Church in America.

Mary was a member of Maplewood Reformed Church where she spent time on the consistory and participated in RCW Women’s group. She was known to welcome and encourage people at church with a big hug. Mary volunteered at Holland Hospital, Hospice and was a leader for the Camp Fire girls and Cub Scouts.

Mary loved her children and grandchildren, and she enjoyed knitting, ice cream, coffee, and blue skies with big, white, puffy clouds.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Haveman in 2017, and daughter-in-law Pam Haveman in 2018.

She is survived by her children: Jack and Mary Haveman of Holland, Barb and Ken Rininger of Holland, Dan Haveman and fiancé Debbie Biggs of Fayetteville, GA, Ruth Mims of San Diego, CA, Alan and Kathy Haveman of Holland, and Kathleen Haveman of Holland; 11 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Chris Haveman of Holland, Kathie Baumann of Holland, Glady and Gerrit Huitsing of Jenison, Sandy Haveman of North Blendon, and Connie and Ken Vugteveen of North Blendon; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be 2:00 pm, Friday, January 19, 2024, at Maplewood Reformed Church, 133 East 34th Street in Holland. Chaplain Sean Jarchow will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to the Maplewood Mission Memorial Fund.
