Lyle Vander Haar, 86 of Zeeland, MI crossed the bridge to meet his Savior on January 19, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on October 13, 1938, to John and Gertrude Vander Haar. He was preceded in death by parents John and Gertrude Vander Haar, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Carolyn Vander Haar, Marj Vander Haar, Karen Vander Haar, Fred McKrill, Berdetta McKrill, Tim Gohn, Sally Gohn, Roscoe Riemersma, Betty Riemersma, Donna Beyer and Paul Beyer.

Lyle is survived by his wife Carol Vander Haar, Children; Robin (Steve) Kamphuis, Ryan (Sally) Vander Haar. Grandchildren; Kyle (Jordon) Kamphuis, Megan (Ben) Ipema, Bradley (Cassandra) Kamphuis, Brett (Tricia) Vander Haar, Renae Vander Haar and Jenna Vander Haar. Brother David Vander Haar, Sister Sandy (John) Zalis, Delores (Jerry) Moore and 8 great grandchildren.

Upon graduation from Holland High School, Lyle joined the army serving 18 months in Korea. After coming home, he worked for Donnelly Kelly (Mega Donnelly then Magna) for over 37 years in purchasing.

He was involved in his church Berean Bible Church (now Parkside Bible Church) where he served as treasurer for over 27 years. Lyle enjoyed traveling, from family vacations to the many trips for his job at Donnelly/Magna. He loved to bowl and golfed in many leagues over the years. He could often be found cheering on his favorite teams in any and all sports or reading his many newspaper subscriptions. After retirement, he and his wife Carol spent their winters in Florida. Lyle and Carol enjoyed 64 blissful years together and will share the same address again someday.

A memorial celebration of Lyle’s life will be held 11 am, Monday, May 13, 2024, at Parkside Bible Church, 14461 James Street, Holland, MI with Military honors. Visitation to be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service.

Donation in his memory can be made to Gateway Mission or Parkside Bible Church Mission fund.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel.
