Lois E. Wiersma, age 91, of Holland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.

Lois was born at home to the late Willard and Sophie Nelson on February 4, 1930, in Manlius Township, Michigan. She attended Fennville and Holland Public Schools and graduated from Holland High School. She met the love of her life, Herbert Wiersma on a blind date at the pavilion, in Saugatuck, Michigan. They later married in 1950 and enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built the family home where they raised their family of five daughters and one son in Holland. Herbert was able to pull Lois’ fun side out and they enjoyed dancing polkas and the Jitterbug. Mrs. Wiersma was also a life long member of Central Park Reformed Church. Lois had many hobbies that kept her busy. She loved reading her bible, gardening and was known for growing the best Violets in town. Lois also enjoyed canning/freezing fruits and vegetables and occasionally meats. Herb and Lois were successful in running a Shaklee business which allowed them to visit many states across the country. Lois was known to be fiercely determined and had a very easy smile. Those who knew her will always remember her positive spirit and gentle ways. She was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions a memorial service will be held at a later date. Internment will be in Graafschap Cemetery in Holland, Michigan.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents Willard and Sophie Nelson, as well as 12 siblings, her husband Herbert Wiersma and their son David. Lois is survived by her 5 daughters, grandchildren and many extended family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Park Reformed Church.
