Life Story / Obituary

Larry De Vries, age 70, of Zeeland, met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 27, 2018, following surgery complications of a brain lesion.

Mr. De Vries is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Judy; son, Brad De Vries and friend Sena Boer; daughter, Emily (Scott) Hoogewind; grandsons, Isaiah, Anthony and Liam; brothers, Bob (Bonnie) De Vries of Kalamazoo, Jim (Jill) De Vries of Zeeland; in-laws, Jim Lamberts of Holland, Don (Sharon) Frantz of Holland, Scott (Marcia) Vlietstra of Zeeland; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Julia De Vries; sister, Linda Lamberts; great niece, Ayva Jo Zuideveen.

Larry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of First Reformed Church of Holland serving as Elder/Deacon. He was a member of Chancel Choir, Bell Choir and was very involved in church life serving on various committees. Mr. De Vries, also sang with the Singing Crusaders of Western Michigan. He began his banking career with Ottawa Savings and Loan and he was most recently employed with Freedom Village and Holland Bus Company. Larry touched the lives of countless people with his spirit of servanthood and our loss will be felt by all.

Visitation will be 5:00P.M. to 8:00P.M., Friday, March 30, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. Graveside services will be held 1:00P.M., Saturday, March 31, in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 994 Paw Paw Drive, Holland. Following the graveside service a celebration of life is planned for 2:00P.M., Saturday, March 31, at First Reformed Church of Holland, 630 State Street, Holland.
