Lambert “Bill” Maas age 75 of West Olive, died Sunday July 24, 2011 at his home.

Bill was born in Grandville, Mi. and was employed right out of school by Michigan Gas and Electric, later known as Semco Gas until he retired in 1995. He was a former member of Maplewood Ref. Church and spent many winters in Nettles Island , Florida where they also attended church. Most recently they attended Victory Point Church.

Bill was an advid outdoorsman enjoying playing tennis, bowling and riding his bike. He also took enjoyment riding his lawnmower, not only over his own lawn but also his neighbors and friends.

Bill was a very giving person and gave of his time as a volunteer fireman for Holland Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Maas in 2002.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Jaarda Maas and children; son, Mark Maas of West Olive, daughter, Lori Van Dam of West Olive, grandchildren, Alex Nyhof , Sara Newhouse and Stefanie Thompson, seven great grandchildren. Brothers, Martin (Maxine) Maas of Holland, and Lawrence (Elsie) Maas of Jenison as well as brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Ruth Jaarda of Branch , Mi. and Marjorie Maas of Holland and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Thursday 11:00 am at Dykstra Funeral Homes, Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd st. with Rev. Paul Colenbrander officiating. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday 7-9 at the chapel.
