Kathryn Hall

Kathryn M. Hall, 70, passed away at her home on July 29th 2016 following a recent illness.

She was born in Holland,Michigan in 1945.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Dolores Hall, brother Michael Hall and sister Mary Ann Hall.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret Kidd of Niles, Michigan,her brother Patrick Hall of Holland, Michigan , several nieces & nephews, as well as many cousins.

Kathryn attended St.Francis De Sales School through the 8th grade and graduated from Holland High School in 1963. In her youth, she was a member of the Camp Fire Girls. She worked summers in her high school years at Du Shane's Farm near Ottawa Beach Road. She was the president of the local Beatles Fan Club and saw them 3 times in concert in Chicago during the summers of 1964-1966.

After high school, she worked at the Holland Licence Bureau on 8th Street, which is now known as the Department of Motor Vehicles. Her next job found her working playground duty at Washington School in the late 1970's.

Beginning in 1979, Kathryn began her 36 year career with Holland Public

Schools, working as a teacher's aide, focusing on physically handicapped

children and those with special needs. Her dedication to children began

at Jefferson School, with stops at Washington School, Longfellow School

and Holland East K8. Known as "Miss Hall", by her students, she had the rare ability to connect with a student, regardless of their physical condition or ability to learn.

She was once honored for her service with a pair of candles and a script that included the following message:

" I shall light a candle of understanding in thine heart, which shall not be put out" 2 Esdras xiv.25. "Miss Hall, you light the candles of our childrens understanding. Thank You "

Over the years, Kathy volunteered as a docent at the Cappon House Museum. She was a Neighborhood Watch Block Captain at one time and graduated from the Citizen's Police Academy. She was a perfect shot at the HPD firing range.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and working in her garden. In recent years, she worked part time in the summer at the Haworth Inn as a Housekeeping Supervisor.

She also enjoyed reconnecting with old class mates Patty, Diane, Liz, Mary Ellen & others, who meet once a month for lunch or dinner and share conversation.

A private service will be held.
