Karen J. Barber-Gibson

Karen J. Barber-Gibson, age 77 of Holland, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 14, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

Karen worked at Hope College for over 25 years in the Modern and Classical Languages Department as an office manager. She was an avid reader, a Master gardener, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She and her Cocker Spaniel “Penny” were Visiting Pet Therapy Volunteers for Spectrum Health Hospice. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.E. & Wilda Barber; brother, Robin Barber; parents in-law, Forrest & Nadine Gibson; and brother-in-law, Donn Gibson.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Terry Gibson; daughter, Kate (Jeff) Voetberg; grandchildren, Maggie Voetberg, Lily Voetberg; sister, Candy Speet; sister-in-law, Karen (Robert) Yonker, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, October 19 at 11:00am at Restlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel (994 Paw Paw Dr., Holland).
