Judy Kuipers, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and friend, passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 10, 2022. She was born on March 23, 1935 in Holland, Michigan and was married to the late Donald Kuipers on August of 1953. The couple celebrated their 54th anniversary before Don’s passing.

Judy devoted her life to three main passions; her cooking, painting and family. She owned and operated several local restaurants and catering businesses over her lifetime, including Carousel Mountain, Macatawa Bay Yacht Club, Kuipers’ Sandy Point, and Kuipers Catering Company. She built and maintained lifelong relationships with those she had the pleasure of working with in the restaurant business. In her free time, she perfected her art of watercolor painting, and traveled the US and countries while elegantly painting their landscapes. Her watercolor expertise was in floral paintings. Her contagious love for cooking and art is passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Above all else, Judy’s main passion was her friends and family. She had many dear friends who she enjoyed chatting and going out to dinner with. She was the matriarch of her family and ignited life and love into all its members. She cherished being a grandmother and looked forward to visits and phone calls from her eleven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She organized a regular family reunion for her cousins and brother, a joyful event she looked forward to on each occasion. She was an active member at the Central Park Reformed Church and enjoyed participating in their Annual Holiday Market.

Judy is survived by her children, Craig (Nancy) Kuipers, Kimberly (Bill) Petroelje; daughter-in-law, Barbara Kuipers; grandchildren, Kelly (Joshua) Honholt, Kyle Kuipers, Kaitlin (Nathan) Vander Weide, Victoria (Armin) Moaddel, Taylor Petroelje, Thomas Petroelje; great-grandchildren, Tessa, Henley, Monroe, Zoe and Lennon Honholt; brother, Ron (Catherine) Bos; and brothers and sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kuipers; son, Clark Kuipers; daughter, Katie Kuipers; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Please, send donations in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Holland or the ALS Foundation.
