John Rodney “Jack” Parker, 83, of Holland, MI, passed away on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023 in Holland, MI.

John was born in Le Mars, Iowa to Relyea and Iola (Woy) Parker on August 4, 1939. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from Westmar College, and a Master’s in Science from South Dakota State University. He was a career long Research Chemist for BASF in Holland. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, amateur radio, art, poetry, cooking, baking, and numerous other hobbies. In his later years, John dedicated countless hours to volunteering at the Day Center at Evergreen Commons in Holland, MI, sharing his passion for music and assisting attendees through meals, physical therapy, and more.

John is survived by his sons-in-law: Eric Sampson of Carmel, IN ,and Mike Vereeke of Holland, MI, and his grandsons Jack Sampson of Fishers, IN, Jasper Weighmink of Hamilton, MI, and Garrett Weighmink Hamilton, MI. He is preceded in death by his wife Corrine Ann (Day) Parker, and his daughters Sarah Jon Vereeke and Elizabeth Sampson.

Johns extended family, by marriage, are Richard and Lyla (Day) Farmer of Le Mars, IA and Michele (Farmer) Hansen, Scott Farmer, Jared and Lisa Farmer and Josh and Mindy Farmer.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Laura and Al Stoltz, Kendra Elgersma, Cindy and Tom Crocoll, and everyone at Evergreen Commons for their friendship.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, February 27 at 11:00am at Grace Episcopal Church, Holland with a one-hour visitation prior to the service at 10:00am.
