John Gmys

On Sunday September 16, 2018, John W. Gmys, age 68, passed away peacefully from this world to the next, in the loving arms of his wife of 43 years, Donna, at the Meijer Heart Center following a brief illness.

John began working for the H.J. Heinz Company after graduating from Penn State University. His many promotions moved him from Pittsburgh to Holland, Michigan as an agricultural manager and he later added offices in Iowa and Ohio.

Mr. Gmys was an avid boater who loved cruising many of the great lakes on his boat, “Heinz Site”. John was a member of Anchorage Yacht Club and loved everything about the water.

John leaves behind his cherished wife Donna; Loving sisters, Mary Beth "Buff" Wolf, Christy and John (Huck) Hutchin; brother in-law, Tom Salkeld and Ginny; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lastly; his four legged companions, Darby & Wally.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 12:00p.m., Friday September 21, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 480 152nd Avenue, Holland, MI. Father Michael Cilibraise will celebrate the Mass. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:45a.m. at the church prior to the funeral ceremony.
