He worked at General Motors in Lansing, Michigan for over 30 years when he retired in July of 1997. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. John was a very loving, fun but simple person, very grounded in life and loved his family dearly. He was a very giving person and would give anyone the shirt off his back, as long as it wasn’t his Detroit Lions shirt.

John is survived by his loving wife, Liz, of 56 years. Also survived by his children Teresa Schorfhaar (Don), John Clark Jr. (Raby), grandchildren; Janel Haddix-Smith (Josh), Sidney Hyde, and Kaya Clark; great-grandchildren, Harper and Wyatt; sisters; Sandy (Wayne) Smith, Judy (Wally) Peacock, Penny (James) Hyland; in-laws, Judy Clark, Gladys Clark, Cathy Beard, Dan (Pam) Handlon along with lots of nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Garnet and Helen (Ekert) and brothers, Bill Clark and Larry Clark.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 7, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, at Fitzgerald Park, 133 Fitzgerald Park Drive, Grand Ledge, MI 48837.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John’s memory to Interim Healthcare - Home Care and Hospice, 1971 E. Beltline Avenue, NE suite 219, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49525.
