Joan Elaine Buck, beloved mother and cherished friend, passed away on August 19th at the Resthaven Care Center in Holland, MI at the age of 91. Her final days were spent surrounded by her devoted family and friends.

Joan Buck was born on October 8, 1929 in New Rochelle, New York, the first child of Esther and Erasmus Dietrichson. Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband, Al Buck, moved to Western Michigan. Holland became their home in the mid-1970s and they loved being part of this community.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dick and Don Dietrichson; and her husband of 62 years, Al Buck.

She is survived by her five children: Robin Buck of Chevy Chase, MD; Jay Buck of Holland, MI; Nancy (Mark) Newhouse of Grand Junction, CO; Paul (Dana) Buck of Woodbury, CT; and Elaine (Scott) Page of Holland, MI; her five grandchildren: Cody Buck, Erik (Emily) Newhouse, Kyra (James) Boelkins, Josh Newhouse, Carson Buck, and Caeden Page; and her two great-grandchildren: Cody Buck, Jr. and Kinsley Newhouse.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am, Friday (August 27), at Fellowship Reformed Church, 2165 West Lakewood Blvd. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. The memorial visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Thursday (August 26), also at Fellowship Reformed Church.

Memorial contributions in Joan's honor may be made to Resthaven Care Center and to Kids' Hope of Holland.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel.
