Jerry E. De Jonge, age 86, of Holland died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Appledorn Living Center.

Jerry was born on February 3, 1930 to Christian and Henrietta De Jonge. He was a member of Beechwood Church and was employed at Chris Craft for 37 years. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Jerry had a passion for fishing and enjoyed going out to the Holland State Park channel. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Delores in 1967, his brother Glenn (June) De Jonge.

He is survived by his children: Cris and Steve Van Huis of Holland, Jane and Mark Boss of Nunica and John and Brenda De Jonge of Grand Haven; grandchildren: April and Chris Scholten, Cherie Beyer, Brenda and Dan Marzynski, Mike Van Huis, Derek Van Huis, Matt Boss and Eric Boss, John De Jonge and Brendan De Jonge;great grandchildren: Nikki, Avery, Josh, Caden, Bryden, and Addy; sister: Ortha and Philo Riemersma of Zeeland; sisters and brother-in-law: Joyce Fett of Grand Haven, Harvey Hoekstra of California and Grace Hoffman of Neveda; many nieces, nephews and cousins

A funeral service will be 2:00 pm., Monday, May 9, 2016 at Beechwood Church, 895 Ottawa Beach Road in Holland. Reverend Dawn Vagle will be officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland.
