Jean I. Foulkes (Gephart) stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, surrounded by her faithful husband of over 68 years, Thomas Foulkes, as well as many other family members.

She was born in Chicago, IL on May 22, 1929 as the third child of Alfred & Irene Gephart. She met the love of her life, Thomas, at Milwaukee Bible Institute and they were married on June 30, 1951, where they committed themselves to marriage and a life of serving Christ.

She and Thomas were blessed with four children: Cheryl (John) Tooke, Zeeland, MI; David (Gladys) Foulkes, Munster, IN; Randy (Beth) Foulkes, Dolton, IL; and Marcia (Terry) Allison, Dillsburg, PA; as well as eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Jean devoted her life to Christ, her marriage and family, and her local church. If not caring for her family, she would be found playing hymns at the piano, teaching Sunday school, and singing worship songs. After Thomas retired in 1993, they moved from Chicago to Holland, MI to be near family. Even in retirement, she was very involved in ministry at Parkside Bible Church where they were members. Jean also led hymn sings with her husband at American House twice monthly until two years ago.

Her greatest joy was seeing her family members walk with the Lord, and she used every opportunity to point every conversation to the Truth of God.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brother Duane and her baby brother Eugene; her sister Norma; and her grandson Michael.

She was dearly loved by her beloved husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

The funeral service will be 11 am, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Parkside Bible Church, 14461 James Street in Holland. Pastors Gary Spykerman, Joe Johnson and Terry Allison will be officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Friday, October 11, 2019 at Parkside Bible Church and from 10-11 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Grace Christian University, 1101 Aldon St SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49509.

2 Timothy 4:6b-8b the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”

Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel.
