Jack Aussicker

Roland (Jack) Aussicker, 98, passed away on February 9 2021, in Grand Rapids. Jack was born in Portland, MI and was a science teacher and administrator in Grand Rapids and Holland. He was also the first Probation Officer appointed by the City of Holland. A veteran of the US Navy, he served as a Corpsman and experienced action at Iwo Jima. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan and a founding member of Maranatha Christian Reformed Church. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Bruursema) and son Lon Aussicker. He is survived by his son Dr. Dave (Janice) Aussicker of Grand Rapids and daughter Betty (Greg) Hurd of Gulf Breeze FL. Grandsons Grant Aussicker, Drew Aussicker, Trevor Hurd and Devin Hurd. Granddaughters Lisa (Michael) Telliga and Rachel Hoekstra, and Great Granddaughter Annalise Telliga. A private funeral service will be held for family with military honors. Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel.
