Howard Vande Vusse, age 81 of Holland, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017.

Howard retired from Hart and Cooley after 32 years of employment. He served as a volunteer for the Holland City Fire Department for 30 years. Howard was a member of Maplewood Reformed Church where he served on the greater consistory. Howard and Gayle both had a heart for missions and served on many mission trips. He served in the United States Army, stationed in Iceland.

Howard was preceded in death by his brothers and sister, Garry, Jack, Sid, Sherry Veldhuis and a brother-in-law, Jim Van Bruggen.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gayle Vande Vusse; children, Wendy (Frank) Delhaye, Julie (Denny) Luurtsema, Paul (Chris) Vande Vusse, and Mark (Amanda) Vande Vusse; grandchildren, Heather (Kyle) Applegate, Sean Eurich, Alycia Oudemolen, Triston Oudemolen, Brooke Vande Vusse, Jordan Vande Vusse, Hadley Vande Vusse, Aidan Vande Vusse, and Kelly (Michael) Frey; great grandchildren, Taylor Johnson, Kayden Applegate, and Ford Applegate; brother, Glenn (Rosemary) Vande Vusse; in-laws, Bill (Carol) Van Bruggen, Julie Van Bruggen, Kathye Kubica, Sharon (Tim) Peters, Laura Vande Vusse, and Lee Veldhuis; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday (December 6) at Maplewood Reformed Church, 133 East 34the Street, with the Rev. Aaron VanDerVeen officiating. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday (December 5) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
