Herlinda Sarmiento

Herlinda Sarmiento, 73, of Holland, MI passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019, surrounded by family at her side.

Born July 3, 1946 in Veracruz, Mexico, daughter to a loving father, Rogelio Villegas.

Herlinda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Juan Sarmiento, six children, Claudia Villegas de Ponce, Pablo Sarmiento, Juan Sarmiento, Petra Sarmiento, Esther Sarmiento, David Sarmiento, 18 grandchildren, Mario, Isabel, Yarenis, Jonathan, Rogelio, Adaly, Jaymes, Juan, Erasmo, Xiomara, Andres, Eric, Luis, Celeste, Angel, Israel, Abigail, Emma, and 3 great grandchildren, McKenzie, Colton, Ahlely, and Kamila.

As a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and confidant, she always demonstrated tremendous fortitude and kindness. She will forever be remembered for her kind smiles and genuine desire to help others. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She was a woman whose faith lit the path through all obstacles and found peace in the Lord.

Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again.Funeral Services will be 11 am Monday (September 9) at Sinai Spanish Assembly of God, 530 State Street. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 pm Sunday (September 8) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
