Herbert Wesley Pollock, age 89 of Holland, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023.

He was born on November 17, 1933, to Herbert and Marguerite (Haley) Pollock.

Herb was a graduate of Holland High School and received a BS degree in Naval Architecture Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan and worked as a naval architect in New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC, for several ship building companies and the United States Government.

He returned to the University of Michigan in early 1972 and received his degree in business administration and began a second career with Whirlpool Corporation in St. Joseph, MI.

Herb designed numerous boats for his own use and enjoyment throughout his life.

Herb and his wife Sally were married for 62 years and enjoyed the last 25 years at their home at Ottawa Beach. They loved to travel, especially to France and were enthusiastic bicycle riders and sailors throughout their marriage.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sally in 2021; brother, James Pollock; great nephew, Joshua Gillette.

Surviving is his sister Nancy (Bob) Gillette; nieces and nephews, Gin (Carl) Pollock Fayard, Kathleen (Tom) Gillette Johnston, Michael R. Gillette, and Benjamin P. (Kendra) Gillette; great niece, Katherine G. Gillette and great nephew, Matthew R. Gillette.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Saturday (March 25) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel. Livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/dykstrafuneralhome. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
