Helma Isa Kuck passed away on Saturday, July 27 at 86 years old. She was born on June 1, 1938 in Königsberg, Prussia. Before Helma turned 2 yrs. old, World War II had begun. The next six years of her life were defined by frequent moves, hunger, and fear as her father moved their small family from what became East Germany to the relative safety of West Germany. Life as a refugee was difficult and those memories followed her throughout her life.
They were finally able to settle in Neustadt am der Wienstrasse when she was a young teenager. There she was finally able to regularly attend schools and have somewhat of normal life.
She married Lawrence “Larry” Kuck, a US serviceman, on October 26, 1957 and moved to the United States in 1962 where they settled on the north side of Holland.
Helma was preceeded in death by her husband, Larry.
She is survived by her son, Larry (Tammy) Kuck Jr. and granddaughter, Marissa Kuck and her daughters Delilah and Marianna, grandsons, Alex Kuck, and Mason (Elisha) Kortman.
No services are planned. Burial is at Pilgrim Home cemetery.
