Hector Ruiz

Hector Lauro Ruiz, known as “Choco” passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the age of 82. Hector was born in Laredo, Texas on Tuesday, August 18, 1936 to Florentino & Eliza Ruiz. He resided in the Holland area most of his life. Prior to retirement, Hector worked for Holland Wire Products for 45 years.

Hector was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing with his family & friends, and had a love for the casinos. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hector was raised to be loving & caring, and he is loved by so many.

Hector is survived by his daughters, Cheri Ruiz, Lupe Gonzales, & Sandra Mangles (Keith Parris) of Holland, MI; Grandchildren Nicole Gonzales of Stuart, FL, Ervey Gonzales III (Jennifer Cabrera), Samantha & Brittany Wilbur, Matt Beltran all of Holland, MI, Jonathan Mangles (Amber Green) of Kalamazoo, MI, Joey (Tram) Montano of Las Vegas, NV; Great-grandchildren Jackson Gelders of Stuart, FL, Brianna & Madison Gonzales of Holland, MI, Aiden Beltran of Kissimmee, FL, Mackenzie & Greyson Mangles of Kalamazoo, MI, Kaiden Montano (Cheryl Merrifield,) Kaiden's Mom of Holland, MI; Brothers, Ernesto (Guadalupe) Ruiz of Detroit, MI, Tino (Sally) Ruiz of Holland, MI; Sisters, Margie (Benito) Benavides, Gloria (Pete) Gomez, Socorro (Ron) Van Slooten all of Holland, MI; Special loved ones in Hectors life, Olga Saldivar, Lucinda Sanchez & Ruben Saldivar; Beloved pets; Sasha & Roxy. Hector is preceded in death by his brothers; Florentino & Rodolfo Ruiz; Grandson; William Montano.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Dykstra Funeral Home Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland, MI, 49423. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm on Friday, August 31, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 West 13th Street, Holland, MI 49423. Interment will follow at Pilgrim Home Cemetery, 364 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
