Harriet Teresa (Popielewski) Lewandowski, 103, of Saugatuck, MI and Tucson, AZ died on Monday, May 29th, 2023 in Tucson.

Born October 14, 1919, in Justice IL, daughter of Valentine and Anna Popielewski. Preceded in death by both parents, husband John, son George, sisters Josephine, Sylvia, and Helen; brother, Anton (Tony); granddaughter, Jennifer.

Harriet was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, a member of the Blue Army, and a volunteer at Christian Neighbors. She worked as a crane operator at Alcoa Aluminum, manufacturing portable runways for the Army Air Corps during WWII. She worked at the Community Cleaners in Saugatuck for many years.

Surviving are children Virginia (George) Saip of Kalamazoo, MI, Betty Lewandowski and Cathy (Lisandro) Montijo of Tucson, AZ and Mary (Gary) LaPorte of Delton, MI, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 8th, 2023, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Douglas, MI with Father Fabio Garzon officiating. The burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck.

Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until the service begins at 11:00 am on June 8th.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or Christian Neighbors.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Saugatuck Chapel.
