Harriet M. Broekhuizen, age 88 of Holland, died Monday April 4, 2016 in Grand Rapids.

She was born in Goshen, IN in 1927 to the late Leonard and Adrianna Hoogenboom. She was a graduate of Goshen High School. In 1950 She married Andrew Broekhuizen. Shortly after she and her husband moved to Decatur, MI where they would live for 62 years before moving to Holland in 2013. She was a member of Central Ave Christian Reformed Church in Holland. She was preceded in death by a grandson Danny Tiemeyer.

Surviving are husband Andrew Broekhuizen of Holland, children: Bruce and Peggy Broekhuizen of Portage, MI; David and Ginger Broekhuizen of Decatur, MI; John Broekhuizen of Martin, MI; Mariann Leep of Holland; Nancy and Glenn Leep of Shelbyville, MI; Susan and Bruce Tiemeyer of Plainwell, MI; Paul and Yuliya Broekhuizen of Caledonia, MI; Phil and Stephanie Broekhuizen of Byron Center; 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Hubert and Pauline Hoogenboom of Goshen, IN, sister-in-law Helen Hoogenboom of Kalamazoo, brother –in-law Ade Glerum of Kalamazoo, sisters-in-law Rena and Arlo Compann of Frankfort, ILL, and Evelyn Broekhuizen of Kalamazoo, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Central Ave Christian Reformed Church. Officiating will be the Rev. James Scholten. Visitation will be Saturday 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery in Decatur, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Ave Christian Reformed Church, World Renew, Back to God Hour, and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health.
