Harold Edwin Molenaar, age 81, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of November 13, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Harold was born in Kalamazoo, MI to the late Esther (Louis) and Cornelius Molenaar on June 1, 1934. He graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Hope College in 1956. Harold was a long time employee at USF Holland, retiring as Vice President of Operations in 1996.

Harold is survived by his two sons, Daniel (Susan) Molenaar of Portage MI, and William (Astrida) Molenaar of East Grand Rapids MI; his grandchildren Derek Molenaar of Philadelphia PA, Ellen Molenaar of Holland MI, Aleksandrs Molenaar and Erik Molenaar of East Grand Rapids MI; brother Roger (Judy) Molenaar of Kalamazoo MI; sister-in-law Betty (Vern) Lewis of Kalamazoo MI and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Esther Molenaar (Sopjes), his parents, his sister, Barbara Blodgett, and grandson Oliver Molenaar.

Harold served in the U.S. Army after college. He was a lifelong athlete of many sports, and excelled at basketball, playing in high school and at Hope College where he earned the nickname “Mighty Mo.” He was a Senior Olympian, and a golf enthusiast. He and Esther spent many winters in Naples, FL staying active. He was a very proud father and grandfather, and a big fan of his grandchildren’s activities.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00AM at Christ Memorial Reformed Church, 595 Graafschap Road, Holland MI, please use either entrance B or C. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
