Gus Feenstra, age 90 of Holland, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Lakeside Vista.

Gus was born in Prospect Park, NJ on August 5, 1930 to Hendrik (Henry) and Jantje (Jennie) (Smit) Feenstra.

He graduated from Hope College in 1959 and did his post-graduate work at Michigan State University, where he received his Master’s Degree in education. Gus was a teacher and principal in the West Ottawa School system for 29 years. He was a member of the Third Reformed Church where he served on the greater consistory, Sunday school teacher, and a Stephen Minister. Gus volunteered, through the probation department, helping the youth of Holland. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Gus was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Feenstra in 1992 and a son-in-law, Paul Dunn in 2013.

Surviving is his wife, Barbara of 65 years; children, Jeffrey and Deborah Feenstra and Laureen Dunn; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, Ashley and Domingo Hernandez (Sofia, Isabella, and Alejandro), Leslie Feenstra, and Tyler Dunn; sister, Sadie Kuiper; brother, Richard and Carolyn Feenstra; in-laws, Glenn and Mary Thompson, Dr. Kenneth and Ann Thompson, and Carol Thompson; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

No services or visitation are scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice or Third Reformed Church Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel.
