Graham William Markes age 95 of Holland went to be with his Heavenly Father Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

Born in Wyandottte, Mi., Graham graduated from Alma College with a degree in Chemistry. He served his country in the Army Aircorp and returned to the states in 1945. He was employed for many years by the Ford Company as a research chemist working in several plants in and around Detroit. In 2002 he moved to the Holland area to be near family.

His wife Elizabeth Mc Grovern Markes preceded him in death in 2004 and in 2006 he married Joyce Waterman.

Graham was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and was most recently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Holland.

Graham enjoyed being outdoors. He enjoyed traveling as well as art and music. He volunteered his time at the U of M Botanical Gardens and also enjoyed bee keeping.

He is survived by his wife; Joyce Markes, children; Susan ( Don) Bigwood of Holland, Graham (Tulin) Markes ll of Clarence N.Y. , Fran (William) Renton of Sarasota, FL., 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; step-children, Steven (Ruth) Waterman of Zeeland, Janet (Garry) Strout of Grand Rapids, MI., 6 step- grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren, as well as a sister in law, Nancy Lumber of Portland, OR.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00 PM at Northwood Chapel, Dykstra Funeral Homes, 295 Douglas Ave., Holland with Rev. Linda Knieriemen officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call on the family Friday 7-9 at the chapel.

Memorial gifts in Graham's memory may be given to Hospice of Holland.
