On Wednesday February 13, 2019 Elizabeth M. Johnson, or “Betty, answered the call of God and passed from this life into eternity.

Betty was a woman of deep, abiding faith. Her life verse in the Bible was Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” She lived in light of the hope that one day she would see Jesus Christ face to face; her Lord and Savior, her Redeemer and Friend.

Betty lived a generous, giving life. She had easy laughter. She was passionate about using her gifts and abilities to serve and encourage people and study the Word of God. Betty considered loving God, loving her family and loving people as her mission. She delighted in her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. Her husband Roger was the love of her life and her best friend.

Her ministry was the church. She faithfully participated in a daily morning prayer group, attended Bible Study, worked in the kitchen weekly for “Living in Community” at 4th Community Church, visited the housebound, and gave rides to those who had no car or could not drive. Her grace and love, knowledge of the Word, and devotion to prayer touched the hearts and lives of many. We will all miss her.

Flowers, gardens, the Rocky Mountains, wide-open spaces, travel, adventure, hiking and Airstream trailers: Betty loved it all. She saw the beauty and glory of God in all his creation. She wanted to reflect that glory in her own life. When you saw Betty, she would hope you saw Jesus. Amen and Amen!

No services or visitations are scheduled.

Arrangements are by the Dykstra Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel.
