Elena Maria “Taty” Cordero, age 84 of Holland, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born and raised in Ciales, Puerto Rico, she moved to Manhattan, New York in 1952 and later lived in New Jersey, Mississippi and Florida, before moving to Michigan in 2013. Elena was a loving wife and mother to three boys; she enjoyed bowling, dancing and spending quality time with family in her early years. Later in life she loved playing dominos, bingo, cooking, gardening and serving in her Church community, including singing in the gospel choir. Most recently, she was a resident of Resthaven Maple Woods and member of Moran Park Church in Holland.

Elena is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ramiro Cordero of Holland; children, Mitchell (Lisa) Cordero of Holland; Eric (Yvette) Cordero of Texas; and Ray (Deborah) Cordero of Colorado; grandchildren, Lissette (Jon)Outen, Kassie Biscoe, Melanie, Jacalyn and Nicole Cordero; Iona (Starling)Rawls and Brandon Cordero; Antonio Cordero and Elena (AJ)Mills; great grandchildren Jonathan and Jocelyn; Devon , Starling Jr., Dajaun and Shayne; and Rustin; sister, Zulma Scheer of Florida; brother-in-law, Angel Algarin of Florida, and sister-in-law, Lúz Mayol of Florida; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Pedro Mayol Arroyo and Francisca Colón; sisters, Encarnación Algarin and Anabel Mayol, brother, Pedro Mayol and great granddaughter, Misa Outen.

The family extends great appreciation to the staff and support of Resthaven Maple Woods, Resthaven Care Center, and Hospice of Holland. Celebration of life will take place in Holland at a later date; in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Resthaven or Hospice of Holland.
