Edwin “Ed” L. Yonker, age 79, of Holland, MI passed away July 30, 2022 at Resthaven Care Center.

Ed was a devoted and loving family man with a funny sense of humor who enjoyed an easy conversation, always had a story to share, and did imitations of past comedians.

He was a passionate educator and spent most of his career teaching in elementary classrooms in the Holland Public Schools retiring in 2000. In the summers, he would paint houses and was a tour guide at Saugatuck Dune Rides. Ed enjoyed sports, playing racquetball, and flying as a private pilot.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy (Brower) Yonker.

Edwin is survived by his wife Janet of 35 years and children: Michael (Ashley) Yonker of Dalton, GA and Melissa Roth of Charlottesville, NC; step children: Matthew Williams and Jenny Fritz of St. Louis, MO and Brian (Jennifer) Williams of Casselberry, FL; grandchildren: Cody, Aiden, Logan, Dakota, Savannah, Austin, Connor, Caden, Lucas, Hudson and Scarlet; brother: Ronald (Pat) Yonker of Sierra Vista, AZ; sister-in-law: Christine Gault of Holland, MI; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street in Holland. Reverend Andy Fierro will be officiating.
