Dorothy Koning

Dorothy V. Koning, age 93, of Holland joined her loving husband in Heaven on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Resthaven Care Center.

Dorothy was a committed member of Beachwood Church where she developed lifelong friendships. One of her first jobs was as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. Later she worked many years as a telephone receptionist for local doctors. Dorothy sincerely cared for the people she served. She enjoyed reading, bowling and playing cards. Dorothy loved her family unconditionally; she and her husband John attended many, many of their families sporting events and concerts. Dorothy and John developed a beautiful love story; they were true soulmates, spending time in the garden together, enjoying watching birds and could be found dancing almost anywhere. She was fun and funny and had a kind and loving spirit right to the end of her life here on earth. She was preceded in death by her husband John Koning and a son Larry Koning.

She is survived by her children: Sally and Larry Speet of Holland, Susan Koning of Holland and Mary and Rick Zavadil of Holland; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Karen Koning of Wilmington, NC; several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be announced sometime in early summer of 2017. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to Beechwood Church or Resthaven Care Center. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel.
