Dolores Jacobusse

Dolores Jean Jacobusse, 89 of Holland, Michigan, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Resthaven Care Center in Holland, Michigan. Born September 30, 1931 in Dubuque, Iowa, but lived most of her life in Holland, MI, she was one of five children of the late Richard and Myrtle (Russow) Vander Meulen. Dolores married Robert E. Jacobusse in 1948 and worked by his side in their restaurant/catering business for nearly 50 years. She was also a loving mother who delighted in making a warm and welcoming home for her family. Dolores had a beautiful smile, and her happiest moments were spent laughing with her husband, children and grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud. She loved to travel, especially to visit family in California and Montana, and was known for her great baking, most notably her homemade fruit pies.

Dolores is survived by three of her children, Kathy (Mark) Kuipers of Missoula, MT, Terri Boone of West Olive, MI, and Scott (Karen) Jacobusse of Holland, MI; her daughter-in-law Jennifer Harrison Jacobusse; twelve grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Robert, granddaughter, Julie Shaffer, son-in-law, David Boone, and siblings, Gloria Wood Marfia, Arlene Frego, and Lyle Vander Meulen.

She was a Charter Member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the First Presbyterian Church. Dolores will be entombed with her husband, Robert, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Holland, Michigan. A memorial service is planned to be held in Holland in the late spring.
