Life Story / Obituary

Brian Simonson, 67 of Saugatuck was critically injured on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 31, 2018. He was greeted by his parents, Carlton and Irene; sisters, Beverly and Bonnie, and his beloved daughter Janice.

Brian will be deeply missed by his wife Gloria; daughters, Jennifer (Rudy) Wahlers, Julie (Chad) Merryman; sons, Douglas (Maggie) Hanson, and Dennis (Sandy) Hanson. Grandpa was so proud of his grandkids: Austin, Dustin (Rachel) Isaac, Abby, Daina, Drew, Samantha, Keeghan, Maggie, Karley, Rowan and Iris. He is also survived by his brother and best friend, Bruce (Pam) Simonson and sister Betty (Ken) Kolean along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, special loved ones, and his ever-faithful and loving dog, Cheyene.

Brian graduated from Saugatuck High School in 1969. He was employed at Lloyd J. Harris and Rich Products, JB Labs and Perrigo where he made countless life-long friends. He retired two years ago and daily would say “it was the best time of his life!”

Brian chose to contribute to Gift of Life to help others. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for June 8 at 11:00am with an hour of visitation prior at Ridgepoint Church, 340 104th ave, in Holland. Those attending are asked to dress casually and to wear Detroit Tigers or Detroit Lions apparel if available. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow.
