Bonnie Lou Van Dyke, age 74 of Holland, Michigan, died Wednesday, June 21 at her home following a brave two year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She was surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids and graduated from Creston High School in 1949. She received her L.P.N. degree from the Butterworth Hospital nursing program in 1957, her R.N. degree from Kellogg Community College in 1983, and her B.S.N. degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. She was an active member of Third Reformed Church in Holland and a member of the Elizabeth women's circle. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Harold E. Van Dyke, M.D.; children, The Rev. Dr. David and Nancy Van Dyke of Columbus, Ohio; Kimberly Van Dyke and Steve Morris of Bellevue, Michigan; grandchildren, Zoe and Max Van Dyke; a sister, Kathleen Lesco of Grand Rapids; in-laws, Barbara Vande Waa of Zeeland, Erma and The Rev. Thomas Keizer of Grand Rapids, Judy and The Rev. Dr. Rowland Van Es of Green Valley, Arizona, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A service in witness to the Resurrection will be held on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Third Reformed Church in Holland, officiated by The Rev. Kama Jongerius-Zuidema and The Rev. William Unzicker. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dykstra Funeral Home, Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue in Holland. Memorials may be made to the Third Reformed Church Women's Ministries, or to Hospice of Holland.
