Ashley Nichole Janik, age 36, of Saugatuck, Michigan, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family on January 14, 2026.

Ashley was born on April 6, 1989, in Holland, Michigan, to Steven and Robin Bell. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development from Western Michigan University. Ashley dedicated over a decade of service as an Office Administrative Assistant with the Douglas Police Department, where she was a valued and trusted member of the community.

Above all, Ashley cherished being a mother. She also enjoyed vacationing, spending summer days on Lake Michigan, shopping, and making memories with her family and friends. Ashley was deeply involved in her community, participating in numerous local events, the Singapore Yacht Club, and the Public/Fire Safety program at Douglas Elementary School with her loyal dog companion, Captain Waffles.

Ashley is survived by her loving husband, Shawn Janik of Saugatuck; children, Kinsley Janik and Dylan Janik; her mother, Robin Bell; father and mother In-law, Greg and Victoria Janik; her sister, Stephanie Allen and husband Jake Allen (daughter Kendelle); and her sister-in-law, Valerie Bernhardy and husband Chris Bernhardy (children Rachael, John, and Hatteras).

She was preceded in death by her father, Steven Bell; her grandmothers, Sharon Smith and Mary Bell; and her grandfathers, Warren Hall and Owen Smith.

A visitation will take place on January 23, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Community Church of Douglas. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 24 at 1:00 pm with an hour of visitation prior to the service, also at Community Church of Douglas. A private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shields of Hope, P.O. Box 103, Zeeland, MI 49464. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Shields of Hope for their compassion and support.
