Arlene Joyce Bloemendal (Pluim), age 79, peacefully passed away May 31 with her husband by her side. She had been married to Hendrik for 61 years. Arlene was a member of the Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. Arlene loved birds, enjoyed working, and really enjoyed spending time with her family.
Arlene was proceeded in death by her parents Jacob & Hattie Pluim, her sister Donna Michmerhuizen, and great grand-daughters Carmen Bloemendal, and Riley Ann Hellenthal.
She is survived by her husband Henrik, her sister Betty Vanloo, children Doug (Sheryl) Bloemendal of Holland, Rick (Ann) Bloemendal of Holland, Cindy (Steve) Alfaro of Holland, Diane Bloemendal of Holland, Jeff (Robin) Bloemendal of Glenn, Gary (Tara) Bloemendal of Zeeland along with 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 11:00 AM at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave, with the Rev. Chad Steenwyk officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, June 3, from 5-7 pm at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue.
Memorials can be made in Arlene’s name to Hospice of Holland.
