Antonia Silva

Antonia Silva, of Zeeland, peacefully departed this world on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the age of 77.

She was born on May 7, 1946, in Weslaco, Texas. Antonia was the daughter of Estevan and Cleta Silva.

Her life unfolded as a tale of resilience, marked by years of migrating between Texas and Michigan, as a dedicated farm worker. Antonia's work ethic became her enduring gift to her children, shaping their characters and guiding them through life's challenges. Ms. Silva was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. Her spiritual journey was defined by compassion and service. Her commitment to volunteer work was an inspiration. She gave her time endlessly and was genuine in her faith and works. Antonia volunteered for Union Civica Mexicana in Saginaw and she was also a Dama de Guadalupe at St. Joseph Parish. Beyond her dedication to faith, Antonia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether enjoying quiet moments with her cat, Lion, engaging in friendly rounds of bingo, or savoring morning coffee with friends. Most importantly, Antonia loved spending time with her dear family. She was loved by everyone that knew her and she will truly be missed.

Ms. Silva is survived by her children, Sandra Silva, Rene (Ruby Ann) Silva and Oscar Silva; grandson, Ricardo (Kimberley) Silva; brothers, Lupe (Mary) Silva, Pedro Silva, Esteban (Frances) Silva Jr.; sisters, Juanita Cantu and Carmen (Gabriel) Hernandez; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Esteban and Cleta Silva; brother, Jose Silva; sister, Maria Vela.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, at 1:00pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Father Luis Garcia will preside over the ceremony.
