Annette Kathleen Broodman (Doezema) born May 17, 1924 to John and Kate (DeGood) Doezema, the third daughter to join six brothers who along with her dear husband, Alvan G, were united in Christ in Heaven, her eternal home on July 23, 2020.

Our mom lived the joy of walking with Jesus. Mom taught us to swim, bake and cook, entertain and practice hospitality. Everyone was welcome at her table. She loved music, singing, traveling, art and her gardens. Most of all, Mom loved Jesus, “the Cottage”, and her family. Every meal was celebrated with Bible reading or recitation, prayer, and often a song. Mom was a collector of Bible verses, words of hymn texts and memories of so many friends and precious neighbors. “Surely the lines for me have fallen in pleasant places.” Psalm 16. “Her children rise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28.

Annette waits in Heaven for her daughters; Barb (Ken) Langerak, Jane (Carl) VandePol, Katie (Tom) Oostema; the grandchildren who were so precious to her, Betsy (Casey) Herrington, Nick (Kristen) Langerak, Josh Langerak (Fiance’ Jenny Piotkokwski), Kyle (Shanda) VandePol, Jake (Kara) VandePol, Anna (Pete) De Boer, John (Lynnae) Oostema, Molly Oostema (friend Gunner Hale); she was GG or Gram B to her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Libby, Connor, and Henry Herrington, Charlie, Gracie, and Kenzie Langerak, Willa and Charlotte De Boer, and Kallum Oostema. Mom embraced a life without fear, loving and pointing everyone to Jesus.

A private, family graveside service led by Rev. Dr. Stan Mast at Lakewood Cemetery has taken place. The family was blessed through Faith Hospice and request memorial contributions in Mom’s honor. To God be the Glory!
