Alvin M. Geertman

Alvin “Al” Geertman, age 76, of Olive Township, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Al was born in Zeeland, Michigan to Gerald and Bertha Geertman on September 7, 1947. Al married the love of his life, Mrs. Lynn Becksfort on February 4, 1967. They were happily married for 56 years. Mr. Geertman was a passionate hunter. He looked forward to opening day every year with his family. He loved to fish and his wife was his fishing partner for his entire marriage. Al tremendously enjoyed and loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They truly meant the world to him. He was a caring man and he loved the Lord. Al touched many lives and always put his family first. He was generous in every aspect of his life. Al was a faithful lifetime member of Ottawa Reformed Church.

Mr. Geertman is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Geertman; children, Kristi Maike, Kevin (Valerie) Geertman, Kelly (Kim) Geertman, Kari (Sam) Geertman; grandchildren, Leah, Gracey, Ty (Kailey), Colton (Kasey), Wyatt, Kaylee, Braydon, Olivia, Dominik; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Callen; siblings, Bernice Berens, Gerald Jr. (Sandy) Geertman, Egbert (Connie) Geertman; many close friends and extended family.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald & Bertha; many aunts, uncles and extended family.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 24, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home - Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland, MI. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 1:00pm at the Northwood Chapel. Dr. Jim Poit and Reverend Michael Van Buren will preside over the ceremony.

To defray funeral expenses the family is asking that contributions be mailed to 8759 112th Avenue, West Olive, Michigan 49460.

Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Northwood Chapel.
